Treasury/ASIC – Review of Credit Rating Agencies and Research Houses

 SDIA attended a roundtable meeting on 23 June 2008 called by Treasury and ASIC to announce a proposed joint review by the two agencies into the adequacy of regulation of credit rating agencies and research houses.

 

The review will look at all issues relating to credit rating agencies and research houses, including possible conflicts of interest; whether the existing class order relief and the applicable conditions are appropriate, or whether more detailed regulation is needed.

 

 The next stage of the review will involve the publication of a Discussion Paper, with the date for this yet to be advised.
