The SDIA also offers the Managed Investments Module. The course will provide 8 CPD hours and was designed for advisors who have not been accredited under RG146 for specialist knowledge in managed investments. Successful candidates will be accredited to advise and offer products such as cash management funds, non-listed property, equities, hedge and international funds.
Background
The module, entitled 'RMIT/SDIA Managed Investments Module', has been specifically designed for the purposes of meeting RG146 specialist knowledge requirements in Managed Investments.
Who should complete this course?
Advisors, who are not accredited under RG146 for managed investments.
Many courses offered by training organisations were not specifically registered to cover managed investments; others required an extra fee to satisfy RG146. If your transcript of completion does not specifically include managed investments, SDIA recommends undertaking this course.
The SDIA Accreditation Program and the SDIA Professional Program Core 1 - Securities & Managed Investments Accreditation are both registered with ASIC to provide accreditation in managed investments as well as securities. Successful candidates are already RG146 compliant and may provide advice on un-listed financial products and services.
Supervision
SDIA / RMIT are offering the course on the basis that the candidate may be assessed on the premises of their employer and under the supervision of a compliance, HR, training officer or their delegate. The supervisor will be briefed by RMIT via email (or telephone hookup if required), where an explanation of protocols will occur. Basically your nominated supervisor in each office location will be responsible for conducting the exam, ensuring that candidates sit under prescribed conditions. The supervisor will receive, distribute, collect and return hard copy exam papers. Time allowed is 90 minutes for the exam. The exams are available fortnightly.
Assessment Dates
- Every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month
Cost*
SDIA has endeavoured to keep the cost of the module as low as possible. Rather than going through the expense of formal examination centres and external supervisors the Superannuation Module can be offered as follows:
